About the Artist

BIO

Maria Drakaki was born and raised in Paros, where she still resides, drawing inspiration from the island’s unique qualities. A professional photographer and teacher, she studied at the prestigious LEICA Academy of Athens.

As an activist and socially conscious artist, Maria began her career as a news photographer before turning to the dramatic lure of the pure image in black and white. She’s also a member of the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists.
