Milk Thistle

This is a close-up photogram of a Milk Thistle (Γαϊδουράγκαθο). In this piece, I have inverted the print to create a negative image, resulting in the shadow of the Milk Thistle appearing in black, much like delicate black lace. For many years, I have passionately experimented with this fascinating darkroom technique, which requires no camera. The results are unique prints that capture multiple impressions of an object’s shadow. You can view the original white print image in my Photogram collection or in my book, “Photograms of a Lifetime.”
